A slaughter committed at Abbot's Pond in Heiligenhaus?
Unleashing the Unexpected: Heiligenhaus's Neanderland Biennale kicks off with a Twist
Get ready for an unexpected adventure as the Neanderland Biennale hits Heiligenhaus! This innovative, regional cultural festival is in its eleventh edition, with each of the ten Mettmann district cities contributing to a unique, sometimes experimental, cultural experience.
The event has evolved over the years, transforming from a mix of dance, theater, concerts, readings, exhibitions, and cultural walks to a theater festival with a focus on regional actors and a preference for street theater. As Theresa Naomi Hund, the project leader, puts it, "We're committed to providing immediate, diverse cultural experiences that shift horizons and expand perspectives."
This year, the Neanderland Biennale is going compact, with each city hosting only one summer theater day to emphasize the festival's character and ensure well-attended venues.
Velbert's Roaring '20s vs. Heiligenhaus's Mysterious Improvisation
While the city of Velbert takes a trip back to the 1920s on July 3rd, Heiligenhaus is gearing up for an improvised crime thriller on July 6th. But what exactly does "improvised" mean? The ensemble "Ernst von Leben" creates a new crime story each time based on the audience's guidelines and ideas. So, why not let your mind run wild, and imagine a body floating in the Abtskücher lake, the forester being the prime suspect, all while the old fire equipment serves as the murder weapon?
Experienced Troubleshooters on a New Mission
The ensemble "Ernst von Leben" is a collective of freelance actors and musicians. Renowned for their innovative improvisations, they've been solving stage cases for about ten years - albeit not as many as their ARD "Tatort" counterparts! Rest assured, there's always entertainment and a clear solution to be seen at the improvised crime thriller.
The event starts at 4 pm in the fire station shed, with no fixed ticket price - instead, the audience decides the worth of the performance. From 11 am to 5 pm, a framework program including special actions, drinks, snacks, and desserts will be available at the Abtsküche museum, the fire museum, and the environmental education center.
Wild West Comes to Ratingen
For those craving more Neanderland Biennale magic, mark your calendars! On July 10th, starting at 7:30 PM, the Summer Stage at Ratingen's City Hall will present a comedy, music, dance, artistry, improvisation, and multimedia show - otherwise known as freestyle theater - featuring "Longjohn". These performers, who bear a striking resemblance to the Daltons, have trained rigorously for this show, promising a varied, humorous, and cinematic extravaganza: The Wild West, right in Ratingen.
