A short-term halt in airport operations at Islamabad airport due to flight disruptions.

The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has announced changes to the flight schedule at Islamabad International Airport due to preparations for the Independence Day air parade. A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) has been issued, outlining affected windows for civilian air traffic.

During the Independence Day air parade rehearsals, scheduled from August 6–9 and August 11–14, and an additional rehearsal period on August 11–13, civilian flights will be temporarily halted. The affected windows for civilian air traffic are as follows:

  • From 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on August 6–9 and August 11–14
  • An additional window from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM on August 11–13

Each pause in flight operations is expected to last approximately two hours. The capital's airspace will be dedicated to military aircraft during these rehearsal periods.

Airlines and pilots have been advised to exercise caution, and passengers are recommended to check with their airlines before heading to the airport to avoid delays or surprises. Outside these periods, flights will operate normally.

Contrary to some reports, the changes in flight schedule do not involve an eight-day closure for Islamabad International Airport. The pauses in flight operations are designed to ensure the safety of air traffic during Pakistan Air Force (PAF) rehearsals for the Independence Day air parade.

Passengers are encouraged to confirm their flight status with their airline before traveling to the airport. For those interested in staying updated on the latest aviation news and updates, The Daily Briefing is available for signing up.

The PAA urges everyone to cooperate during this time to ensure a smooth and safe Independence Day celebration.
