A series of stormy weather incidents over seven days

As Germany prepares to enter a new week, the German Weather Service (DWD) has forecasted a continuation of the ongoing heatwave, with temperatures reaching close to 40°C in some areas, particularly by midweek.

On Monday, temperatures will be warm but below 30°C initially, with sunshine and weak to moderate winds providing some relief. Berlin will see highs around 27°C, with cooler nights dropping to 10–14°C. The western half of Germany will bask in a lot of sunshine for Friday.

Temperatures will significantly rise on Tuesday, with temperatures between 31 and 35°C. The east and south on Wednesday may experience more sunshine, while the northwest will be quieter, but not always dry.

The peak of the heatwave is expected on Wednesday, with temperatures soaring to 36-39°C, especially in the capital region. Nights will still cool down somewhat but remain warm (14–19°C). After midweek, some relief from the heat is expected as Atlantic influences begin to spread across the continent.

Regarding thunderstorms, although the first part of the week appears mostly dry and sunny, the presence of heatwaves often increases the risk of thunderstorm development later in the week, especially as temperatures start to fluctuate or when fronts arrive. On Saturday, there could still be thunderstorms in the east and southwest in the afternoon.

On Wednesday, temperatures will be lower, with the northwest only reaching around 19 degrees and the southwest still having summer temperatures. The east will be slightly over 20 degrees, and it will be quite windy.

The weekend will have a lot of sunshine for all regions of Germany. Another thunderstorm low is expected on Wednesday, coming from the northwest and bringing gray and wet weather. There is an increasing risk of severe weather with the rising temperatures during the weekend, and thunderstorms will shift more to the north and south on Sunday.

This heatwave also poses challenges such as transportation disruptions and increased wildfire risk. It is crucial for everyone to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, and follow local weather advisories. Stay tuned for further updates as the week progresses.

The International Weather-forecasting organizations have warned about the potential development of thunderstorms towards the latter part of the week, as the heatwave continues to persist. On Wednesday, while some regions may experience lower temperatures, many areas will still enjoy sunny weather, with an increased risk of storms.
