A senior advisor to Putin suggests that a truce could aid Ukraine.
Here's the lowdown on the current situation:

In a surprising move, US diplomats are readying themselves for a discussion on a 30-day ceasefire with the Russian government, with respect to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. According to the word from the Kremlin, the US delegation is already en route to Moscow. However, the air surrounding this ceasefire proposal is rife with criticism.
This ceasefire proposition was the subject of a phone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin's advisor, Yuri Ushakov, and US President Donald Trump's advisor, Mike Waltz. The Kremlin's spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, confirmed the aforementioned call.
Two Sides, Two Interpretations 🤔
When asked about the US delegation by the press, Peskov revealed that the US envoys would be jetting off to Russia for ceasefire talks. The proposal comes on the heels of talks between Ukraine and the US in Saudi Arabia, where Ukraine agreed to the temporary ceasefire. However, Ushakov expressed some skepticism the very next day, dubbing it as "nothing more than a temporary respite for the Ukrainian troops."
Peskov remained tight-lipped regarding the members of the US delegation. He merely mentioned that meetings were scheduled. In response, Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, shared the sentiment, stating, "We are open to discussing initiatives that will be presented in future contacts with the Americans. Such talks are possible today."
The White House earlier announced that Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff, would be making a trip to Moscow this week. The Russian government, on the other hand, has made the lifting of sanctions against Russia a precondition for reaching an agreement. Peskov marked these sanctions as "illegal." The Kremlin spokesman, regrettably, did not share additional details about the potential talks. "One step at a time," Peskov reassured.
