A Political Party Assembly (APC) Establishes a Review Committee to Examine Zazzaga's Action of Supporting Mutfwang

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State has established a three-member probe panel to examine the actions of Chieftain Saleh Zazzaga, who endorsed Governor Caleb Mutfwang and speculated presidential candidate President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 election.

According to reports obtained by our website, the State Working Committee (SWC), in a meeting held on Monday, deemed Zazzaga's endorsement as a breach of party loyalty. The Acting Publicity Secretary, Shittu Bamaiyi, announced the panel's constitution, with the State Chairman, Rufus Bature, expressing disappointment over the recent unfavorable media reports that suggested internal strife within the party.

Bature called for a balanced and impartial investigation into the issue, stressing that the development required prompt attention and resolution in accordance with the party's constitution. He further advised the members of the panel to approach their task with honesty, without fear or favor.

The panel's resolution outlines an examination into whether Zazzaga's endorsement was indeed a violation of party rules, as well as determining the extent of his involvement in the matter. The panel has been granted two weeks to submit its report, as stipulated in the party's constitution.

Bature also commended the active participation of the state’s delegates during the party's national summit and North-Central zonal meeting last week in Abuja. Favorable comments were made towards members who have remained supportive and loyal to the party.

It is worth noting that Nigerian politics often sees early endorsements for incumbent candidates at presidential or gubernatorial levels, as a means to assert party unity and prevent internal divisions prior to elections [1][4][5]. However, explicit endorsements of opposition party candidates by key members could potentially constitute a breach of party discipline, resulting in disciplinary action. At present, there is no public record or reporting of such a response to Saleh Zazzaga's endorsement.
