'A pleasant surprise for The Ritz Restaurant as they receive another Michelin Star, leading some to exclaim, "It seems we weren't overlooked after all".'
London's culinary landscape continues to evolve, with the Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland announcing new stars for restaurants in the city. Here's a glimpse into the latest additions to the prestigious guide.
Newcomers on the Block
In July 2025, several promising new restaurants were added to The Michelin Guide, potential candidates for a coveted star. Among them are The Prince Arthur in Belgravia, offering high-end Basque-influenced food, Claro in St James, serving Mediterranean cuisine from Tel Aviv, Fowl in St James, a chicken-focused spin-off from Fallow, Dove in Notting Hill, Jackson Boxer's reimagined restaurant, and La Palombe in Kensington, a bistro from an ex-Ledbury chef.
Shining Stars in London
The 2025 Michelin Star awards saw 26 UK restaurants overall receiving stars, with 22 being awarded one star, 3 with two stars, and 1 with three stars. While the only newly promoted three-star restaurant in the UK was Moor Hall in Lancashire, the updated list of One, Two, and Three Star restaurants can be viewed on the Michelin website.
Notable new one-star recipients in London include The Ritz Restaurant, which was awarded a second Michelin Star, and Wilsons in Bristol, whose menu is entirely informed by what is grown and available in their own market garden.
Standout Restaurants
Oma, a restaurant in London, was described by restaurant reviewer Emma Hughes as having a warehouse party feel and an approach encapsulated by the sharpener offered to diners. Ten new One Michelin Stars were also awarded to restaurants in London, including Hellenic-inspired Oma in Borough Market and Cornus in Belgravia.
Other notable Michelin-starred London restaurants mentioned recently include Gymkhana, which earned its second star in 2024 and remains a top Indian restaurant choice in the city.
A Familiar Face in the Guide
Rosie Paterson, Digital Content Director & Travel Editor for our platform, has been a familiar face in the guide, with her contributions extending beyond our platform to publications like Mr & Mrs Smith and The Gentleman's Journal. In 2022, Rosie edited the special Queen's Platinum Jubilee issue and coordinated our platform's own 125th birthday celebrations.
Changes in the Guide
Not all restaurants maintained their Michelin Stars. City Social and Kai lost their stars in the 2025 guide. However, John Williams, the executive chef of The Ritz, managed to secure his first Michelin Star in 2017 and was later awarded a second star in 2025. Williams has overseen proceedings at The Ritz since 2004.
Elsewhere, Moor Hall in Lancashire received the only third Michelin Star in this year's guide, while Wilsons in Bristol and Ballyfin in Co Laois, Ireland, also received recognition.
For the most up-to-date and comprehensive list of Michelin-starred restaurants, it is advised to consult the Michelin Guide's own 2025 publication or website, as the month-by-month additions and star announcements may not be fully consolidated in media summaries yet.
