A Crankin' Good Time: IV All-Russian Mass Cycling Race in Shartash Forest Park and Volunteer Efforts
A multitude of roughly five hundred cyclists participated in a sweeping cycling competition in Shartaş, as captured in photographs.
More than 500 cycling fanatics pedaled their way through Shartash's terrain! The IV All-Russian Mass Cycling Race, held on May 31st, attracted riders from cities across Sverdlovsk Oblast, including Ekaterinburg, Verhnyaya Pyshma, Middle Urals, Kamensk-Uralsky, Nizhny Tagil, and Pervouralsk.
What's more, this event wasn't solely about cycling—it was a showcase for volunteerism and park enhancement. The Volunteer Center of Alexei Vykharev stepped up to the plate, coordinating participants, distributing water, snacks, and even cleaning up before and after the races. This marks the second time that cycling competitions have been supported by volunteers in Shartash.
Elena Vasilyeva, a local, reported that, two weeks ago, the first championship and championship of Sverdlovsk Oblast in the "individual time trial" discipline were held in the same park. Deputy Alexei Vykharev and his volunteers played a crucial role in organizing the event and conducting voting for park improvements under the federal program "Formation of a Comfortable Urban Environment."
Prior to the cycling events, Alexei Vykharev and his team installed eco-benches and information stands with rules for forest behavior. You heard it right—recycled plastic was used to create these eco-friendly improvements, all executed with the help of volunteers!
