Title: A Call for Change? Hakeem Baba-Ahmed Suggests a New Approach for Atiku Abubakar in 2027

"A Message in Gold: Tinubu's Ex-Aide Pens a Note to Atiku for 2027 Showdown"

Hang onto your hats, folks! Let's dive into the world of Nigerian politics and discuss a rather fascinating perspectives put forward by the former Special Adviser on Political Matters to President Bola Tinubu, none other than Hakeem Baba-Ahmed.

In a candid chat on Politics Today, a show gracing our screens courtesy of Channels Television, Baba-Ahmed dropped a bombshell. He suggested, if you will, that Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate and former Vice President, might want to consider stepping back and embracing a mentor-like role in 2027.

Instead of running again, Baba-Ahmed urged Atiku to support a more youthful candidate in the next election cycle. Now, here's the twist: according to Baba-Ahmed, this fresh face could well be the strategic edge needed to knock the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) off its perch.

"Listen up, Atiku. If I had the opportunity to have a heart-to-heart with you, I'd tell you this - Old chap, you've done your time, you've upheld democracy, you've represented it proudly, your name's a shining star, it's time to hand over to a younger person. Don't compete in 2027, play the wise elder instead.

"Find a promising, young soul. If he's got the chops, less baggage, fewer secrets, a fresh face - they'd take APC down a peg or two," he stated.

Baba-Ahmed wasn't doing a soft-shoe shuffle when it came to the APC, either. He took them to task for welcoming opportunists into their ranks. His words? The APC is rolling out the red carpet for all the wrong folks.

He claimed that a good chunk of the political defections into the APC were fueled by self-interest, with some individuals seeking refuge from the watchful eyes of anti-graft agencies.

"The APC's on the fast track to welcoming the wrong kind of members, and all these defections are about the same thing: they're aiming for positions or they're trying to evade the EFCC.

"The folks pouring into the APC from every direction are essentially a ticking time bomb, it's simply a refugee camp waiting to burst," he warned.

While Baba-Ahmed may have stirred the pot with his words, the broader political landscape remains a hot topic of speculation. With alliances being forged and coalitions building, one thing's for sure - the 2027 election is shaping up to be one heck of a showdown.
