A new season of high-stakes thrillers kicks off on Monday Night Movie with Countdown: Race Against the Bomb. The free-to-air premiere marks the start of this year's Epinephrine series, showcasing five action-packed films from Europe and Hollywood. The first instalment follows a Madrid taxi driver caught in a deadly terrorist plot.
The film centres on Santiago, a family man who becomes a hostage after a terrorist attack in Madrid. A surviving attacker forces him to wear an explosive vest fitted with a motion sensor and remote detonator. Every movement could trigger a deadly explosion.
Meanwhile, Santiago's wife Laura, their son Raúl, and his friend Ramón race against time to locate him. Police commander Pilar Montero leads the desperate search, struggling to find a way to disarm the bomb and bring Santiago home safely.
Countdown: Race Against the Bomb was directed by Daniel Calparsoro and features dramatic scenes shot on Madrid's Gran Vía. The iconic street was temporarily closed during filming to capture the film's intense sequences.
The Epinephrine series continues the following week with The Ice Road, starring Liam Neeson. That premiere is scheduled for Monday, February 9.
