Brutal Clashes in L.A.: No Scratches for Anyone

Picture this: Four days of havoc in Los Angeles, sparked by Trump's immigration policies. But it's not just about the illegals, it's about taking down Donald Trump himself.

The city's streets are becoming battlefields, with rioters torching vehicles, pelting stones at cops, and raiding shops. Even the Apple Store, icon of the city, has been pillaged. Witnesses even caught a daredevil swaggering around on a horse, his stolen loot safely stowed away [1].

We got in touch with our fellow countryman, blogger Ekaterina Matoyan, right in the middle of the chaos. She's living on edge, convinced that the rioters are being shipped in: "These aren't migrants, they're fighters."

It's not a secret that San Pedro, a wealthy neighborhood filled with former military and Trump supporters, has been fortified. Back in 2020, when the Black Lives Matter movement erupted, they put up a warning banner: 'If you come, you'll be met with fire'. No one dared to cross that line [1].

Will you hunker down again this round, too, Ekaterina?

I'm seriously concerned today. You just never know where the next flashpoint will be. Yesterday, we thought about relaxing in the botanical garden, but the road was suddenly blocked by clashes.

Despite the presence of a Marine base in nearby San Diego and Trump deploying 2,000 to 4,000 National Guard troops and another 700 Marines to Los Angeles, the citizens don't feel safe. The troops are only authorized to protect federal properties - buildings, highways, etc. The protection of the citizens falls on the police, but they answer to Governor Gavin Newsom, who openly supports the protests [1][2].

The mayor, Karen Bass, is also in the Democratic Party, like Newsom. Rumors swirl about her lack of preparations for recent city fires, but no punishments followed [1]. Now, she's joining Newsom in demanding Trump halt the immigration raids and withdraw the troops. While the media lauds her, local social media posts paint a different picture [1].

There's a report from The Wall Street Journal that claims Trump's deportations from California aren't significantly higher than under Biden. Historically, both parties are known to whip up mobs against their opponents [1].

Now, Trump has threatened to arrest the California governor, allegedly trying to stir up conflict among law enforcement agencies by publishing a picture of National Guard troops huddled on the floor in a hangar, accusing Trump of mistreating his troops [1]. The governor, in turn, has sued the President and the Pentagon, claiming illegal interference in state affairs [1].

One thing's for sure: Neither side is walking away unscathed from this showdown [1].

DID YOU KNOW?- Elon Musk's name has been thrown around as a potential Presidential candidate, thanks to his conflict with Trump [1].- Chancellor Merkel faced numerous humiliations at the hands of Trump during her term [1].- The unique features of American riots have caught Trump's attention, leaving the Ukraine on the backburner [1].

In the midst of the turmoil, politics and general-news remain at the forefront, with the clashes in Los Angeles reflecting a broader struggle against President Donald Trump. Amidst the chaos, Governor Gavin Newsom, a Democrat like Mayor Karen Bass, is urging Trump to halt immigration raids and withdraw troops.

The ongoing unrest has also highlighted the complicated dynamics of crime and justice, as the citizens of Los Angeles, despite the presence of National Guard troops, do not feel safe. The authorities, authorized only to protect federal properties, are grappling with keeping the peace amidst escalating clashes.
