Busta Rhymes Honoured with Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

American hip-hop icon Busta Rhymes has been recognized for his significant contributions to the music industry with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The ceremony took place on a Friday, following the MTV Europe Music Awards where he received the Global Icon award for his lifetime achievement.

Born in 1972 in New York, Busta Rhymes is the son of Jamaican immigrants. Growing up in the city, he had to work "really, really hard" during his childhood, but it was his passion for music that eventually led him to success.

Busta Rhymes' career launched in the 90s, and he quickly established himself as a trailblazer in hip-hop. His distinctive rapid-fire rapping style and charismatic persona contributed to both East Coast hip-hop and mainstream rap. Over nearly three decades, he has released eleven studio albums, three compilation albums, eight mixtapes, and over 100 singles, earning him a prolific discography.

Notable albums in his discography include When Disaster Strikes... (1997), Extinction Level Event: The Final World Front (1998), and collaborations such as the Flipmode Squad album The Imperial (1998). His mixtapes like Surrender (2004) and The Countdown to The Big Bang (2006) reflect ongoing creative output and collaborations with prominent DJs and producers.

Busta Rhymes' impact on hip-hop is marked by his numerous hits like "I Know What You Want," "Break Ya Neck," and "Pass The Courvoisier Part II." He has sold over 20 million albums and received a dozen Grammy nominations, but the star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is a testament to his lasting influence and legacy in the genre.

At the ceremony, Busta Rhymes thanked his mother and his father, an electrician who initially opposed his music career. He was supported by fellow rappers Chuck D, LL Cool J, and Big Daddy Kane, who celebrated his achievements and contributions to the industry.

Busta Rhymes' mother, whom he referred to as his "greatest superhero," was a constant source of inspiration throughout his career. He recalled his childhood in New York as the child of Jamaican immigrants, and the hard work he put in to achieve his dreams.

Busta Rhymes released his tenth studio album, "Blockbusta," in 2023, continuing to push the boundaries of hip-hop and entertain fans around the world. With his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, he joins the ranks of other music legends and solidifies his place in the history of hip-hop.

Busta Rhymes' notable contributions to the music industry have extended beyond hip-hop, as he continues to captivate audiences with his charisma, cementing his status as a beloved celebrity in the entertainment world. His diverse discography and successful career make him a remarkable figure in the music industry, recognized by fellow artists and fans alike.
