Special Olympics Quebec Games 2025 Come to a Memorable Close
After an exhilarating week of competition, the Special Olympics Quebec Games 2025 have concluded at the Centre sportif Léonard-Grondin in Granby.
The ceremony, hosted by Jean-Charles Lajoie, was filled with emotion as he declared the games closed. The event brought together 1050 athletes aged 12 to 70, 400 coaches, 100 major officials, and approximately 3000 visitors, creating a vibrant atmosphere of inclusion, camaraderie, and sportsmanship.
The highlight of the ceremony was the video presentation showcasing the best moments of the Special Games in Granby. Lajoie, moved by the smiles of athletes despite the challenging weather conditions with an average temperature and humidex of 42, couldn't help but feel immense pride in the successes of the event.
Lajoie was particularly touched by the athletes' ability to push themselves to the limit during the Games, a testament to the training and dedication they have put into their sports. He also wanted to highlight the contribution of parents, volunteers, coaches, and mission chiefs who made the event possible.
The opening and closing ceremonies were special moments for Lajoie, who received a large dose of love from the crowd. The T.O.GETHER group from École Tendance performed at the beginning of the event, setting the tone for a memorable evening. Local artist Arnaud Emar added to the excitement by performing the anthem "La grande finale" during the ceremony.
Lajoie expressed his gratitude for the successful organisation of the event, noting that all the items on his wish list had been checked off.
