In wake of the recent violence between Hamas militants and Israeli forces, it's sad to report that an Estonian-Israeli man lost his life near Gaza last weekend.

The Estonian Foreign Ministry confirmed the tragic death on October 12th. In a heartfelt statement, Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna shared his condolences: "I was deeply unsettled to learn about the senseless death of an Estonian citizen in the terrifying attack against Israel near Gaza. On behalf of all the people of Estonia, I offer sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the victim."

Due to privacy concerns, the Ministry did not provide further details on the matter. It's worth noting that about 900 Estonian citizens reside in Israel.

Hamas, a Sunni Islamist political and militant group running the Gaza Strip since 2007, has been designated a terrorist organization by many Western countries, including the US and the UK. They are notorious for their usage of human shields, hostage-taking, and indiscriminate violence against civilians.

Recent reports do not specify the victims or scale of casualties from the Hamas attacks in Israel. However, there have been ongoing tensions and incidents between Hamas and Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip.

According to unconfirmed reports, Hamas police recently killed 12 members of the Gaza-based Abu Shabab militia, believed to be Israeli-backed. Additionally, dozens of Palestinians have been killed while trying to reach aid distribution points in Gaza, as per reports from Hamas's civil defense agency. Israel denies responsibility for these deaths, claiming they fired warning shots in those areas.

The Israeli military officially declared war on Hamas a day after the recent attack. Tensions remain high, with both sides continuing to exchange devastating blows.
