A Fresh Team Enters the Marathon Races with Familiar Aims for the Coming Season
The new DEL2 season is upon us, and two of its most intriguing teams, the Kassel Huskies and EC Bad Nauheim, are gearing up for an exciting campaign.
The Kassel Huskies will kick off their season on the road in Bietigheim on Friday at 7:30 PM. After that, they will face their local rivals, EC Bad Nauheim, in the highly anticipated first Hesse Derby of the season on the second matchday, scheduled for Sunday.
For the Kassel Huskies, the new season marks a chance to bounce back from their semifinals defeat last season against Dresden. The team has been preparing diligently, facing strong opponents and holding their own well against first-division teams. Daniel Kreutzer, the sports director, expressed optimism about the start of the season, stating that they are very satisfied with the preparation.
Meanwhile, EC Bad Nauheim concluded their preparation with a home game against EHC Freiburg on Friday evening. The team, now coached by Peter Russell, is optimistic about the new season. Russell, a new addition to the team, finds Bad Nauheim to be a beautiful and relaxed city. EC Bad Nauheim's season goal is to avoid relegation, while also aiming to be a 'playoff team' in the upcoming season.
However, the team has faced some setbacks, with experienced defensemen Christopher Fischer and Patrick Seifert recently injured. On a positive note, fan favorite Taylor Vause has recovered from an ACL injury and is back in full form for EC Bad Nauheim.
The Kassel Huskies' season goal is to compete at the top again. The team has seen some changes, with Max Faber and Simon Thiel, two top performers, joining DEL relegated Düsseldorf and will be opponents of the Huskies on the ice this season.
The regular season for the Kassel Huskies consists of 52 games. The first match against EC Bad Nauheim promises to be a thrilling encounter, setting the tone for an exciting season ahead. The Huskies will then return to their home ice for the subsequent matches, eager to showcase their preparations and challenge for the top spot in the DEL2.
