Heino Ferch Investigates in Venice: As Commissario in the Colorful World of Italian TV - A ‘faceless woman’ murder unravels from Germany to Italy in gripping SOKO thriller

A new film in the SOKO series follows detective Ingo Thiel as he investigates a baffling murder. The story begins with the discovery of an unidentified woman’s body in a forest. Known for its realistic take on police work, the production blends crime-solving with unexpected twists—including a trip to Venice and clashes with Italian media sensationalism.

The case starts when the body of a woman in her mid-thirties is found with no identification. A mother with no immediate clues to her identity, she becomes known as the 'faceless woman'. To crack the case, Thiel turns to Italy’s Chi era testimone, a crime show similar to Germany’s Aktenzeichen XY… Unsolved. A 3D facial reconstruction broadcast on the programme finally helps put a name to the victim.

The film sheds light on the painstaking work behind solving a murder, from forensic reconstructions to international cooperation. While the case eventually finds resolution, the story also captures the everyday frustrations and surprises of police investigations. The mix of German precision and Italian flair adds a unique twist to the crime genre.
