A decade-long celebration marks TSV, advancing to a centennial celebration for the ASV family, honoring their significant dual anniversary
TSV Meerbusch Celebrates Double Jubilee with a Festive Event
The small town of Meerbusch, Germany, was buzzing with excitement last weekend as the local sports club, TSV Meerbusch, celebrated a double jubilee. The club, formed through the merger of TSV Lank and ASV Lank, marked significant anniversaries in its history, highlighting its rich local history and community importance.
The festivities kicked off with a transformation of the Theodor-Mostertz sports facility in Lank-Latum into a festival ground. A photo exhibition was provided, showcasing the 100-year history of ASV Lank and the ten-year success story of TSV Meerbusch.
Throughout the day, various activities were on offer for all ages. TSV Meerbusch showcased its diverse range of sports, including Karate, gymnastics, chess, trampoline jumping, and a newly founded darts department. The adjacent tennis facility became the center of attention in the late afternoon, with a mixed tournament showcasing the club's tennis department.
The entertainment continued into the evening with performances by Horst Krefelder, Lars Hagen, Nina Lavida, and a DJ, keeping the audience dancing and maintaining a lively party atmosphere. The jazz band "Filofax" opened the evening program, followed by the Cologne Games Circus, where kids could practice acrobatic tricks, jump over burning ropes, and walk on broken glass.
Mayor Christian Bommers congratulated the club on behalf of the city of Meerbusch, and the 1st chairman of TSV Meerbusch, Arnim Biskup, honoured personalities who made significant contributions to the club. Among those recognised was Johannes Peters, the former chairman of TuS Bösinghoven, who played a key role in the merger with ASV Lank.
TSV Meerbusch is not just a local sports club; it actively participates in youth football leagues such as the DFB Nachwuchsliga (youth league). The club also serves as a training ground for players seeking to maintain fitness, as exemplified by notable players such as Samed Yeşil training with them in 2025.
Despite the lack of exact years for the merger or the detailed events of the double jubilee celebration, it is clear that this was a momentous occasion for the club and the community. For more precise historic dates and the details of the jubilee events, local club archives or their official communications would likely have comprehensive information.
