A Christmas horror film reboot titled "Silent Night, Deadly Night" has found its Billy character.

The horror genre is gearing up for a festive scare with the upcoming reboot of the cult classic slasher, Silent Night, Deadly Night. Scheduled to hit theaters nationwide on December 11-12, 2025, this reimagining promises to deliver a fresh take on the original 1984 film.

Rohan Campbell, known for his work in shows such as Halloween Ends, Snowpiercer, iZombie, Supernatural, and Hulu's Hardy Boys, steps into the iconic role of Billy, the killer Santa. Directed and written by Mike P. Nelson, the film is produced by Cineverse and Bloody Disgusting's horror division.

Billy's story continues across the second and third film in the original series. As a child, he witnesses his parents’ murder by a man dressed as Santa on Christmas Eve. The traumatic event leaves him with a deep-seated fear of the holiday and sets him on a path of vengeance. Every Christmas season, he dons the Santa suit to exact bloody revenge on those who have wronged him.

The reboot aims to honor the original’s grindhouse grit while delivering a stylish, modern horror experience. The marketing teases Billy’s twisted sense of justice with the tagline: "This Christmas Eve, Billy wants to know: Have you been naughty?” The teaser trailer highlights the mix of holiday cheer and brutal terror with Billy’s bloody rampage in the Santa suit.

Billy Chapman, the character played by Robert Brian Wilson in the original series, is a divisive figure in the slasher/horror pantheon. Some consider him among the best or creepiest, while others find him deeply offensive. In the reboot, Rohan Campbell brings a new interpretation to this controversial character.

As an adult, Billy Chapman took up a similar role himself in the original Silent Night, Deadly Night. The release of the rebooted Silent Night, Deadly Night is scheduled for this holiday season. With more news to be revealed in the coming weeks, horror fans can look forward to a chilling reimagining of this classic slasher.
