A Charming Set of pocket-sized Items

Min Ji and Kevin Allen got into a heated poker game, with the action starting at the Lo-jack. Min Ji decided to go all in for a substantial 41,000 chips from the Small Blind, and Kevin Allen called, throwing in 2,500 chips.

"I'm just torturing you, man," Kevin said, grinning as he revealed an Ace and a Five, hoping for an ace on the board.

Unfortunately for Kevin, the cards didn't fall his way. The board showed 2♣2♦5♦9♣3♦, giving Min Ji a full double-up, leaving Kevin with only 48,000 chips left.

In poker, the hands are ranked from highest to lowest:1. Straight Flush: Five consecutive cards of the same suit.2. Four of a Kind: Four cards of the same rank.3. Full House: Three cards of one rank and two cards of another rank.4. Flush: Five cards of the same suit.5. Straight: Five consecutive cards but not of the same suit.6. Three of a Kind: Three cards of the same rank.7. Two Pair: Two pairs of different ranks.8. Pair: Two cards of the same rank.9. High Card: Any hand not meeting the above criteria, with the highest card determining the hand strength.

In a head-to-head showdown, the pot goes to the player with the highest ranked hand. If the hands are equal, the pot is split among the players. In this case, Min Ji's Queens full of Fives (QQ over 55) beat Kevin's Ace-Five (A5) due to the full house being a higher hand rank than a pair. As a result, the pot swung in Min Ji's favor.

Allen was impressed by Ji's double win, acknowledging the power of a full house in sports as well as poker, especially with her Queen Full of Fives besting Kevin's Ace-Five. The remaining chips in the game now belonged to Ji, with Allen needing an ace in the forthcoming games to make up for his current deficit.
