Elberfeld Chamber Choir to Perform Dedicated Concert on Song of Solomon
The Elberfeld Chamber Choir, a beloved part of Wuppertal's vibrant choral scene for over 35 years, is set to enchant audiences with an upcoming concert dedicated to the Song of Solomon.
Founded in Elberfeld, the choir, consisting of 26 passionate singers, has been under the artistic direction of Georg Leisse since mid-2006. Leisse's leadership has seen the choir working on diverse and challenging programs from all musical eras, spanning from Gregorian chant to the 21st century.
The Song of Solomon, a collection of love poems from the Old Testament, has inspired numerous works of art throughout centuries. In this concert, the choir will explore the relationship between people, as interpreted since the Enlightenment, and the love of God for the people of Israel or the love of Christ for the Church, as understood in Jewish and Christian theology.
The selection of text passages and stylistic changes in music create an exciting dramatic sequence, promising a thought-provoking and moving experience for all.
The exact concert program for the upcoming performance is not specified, but it is expected to reflect the choir's commitment to diversity and challenge.
The performance will take place on April 28, 2024, at 6 PM, at Herz Jesu Elberfeld, Ludwigstraße 54, 42105 Wuppertal. Admission to the concert is free, with donations welcome.
In addition to their Wuppertal performances, the Elberfeld Chamber Choir also performs in the surrounding area. For more information about the choir and their upcoming concerts, visit their official website.
