"Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" Contestant's Wrong Joker Choice Lands Him Thousands in Debt: Second Chance Given

Incorrect response from a jester leads to significant financial loss: Candidate given another opportunity - A blunder in the joker's response leads to a massive financial loss of thousands of euros.

Ever dreamt of sitting in the hot seat on "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" Munster student, Jannik Kuhle, lived that dream in the December 2024 "Christmas Special" of the RTL show. But poor Jannik's big break took a dramatic turn as the joker he chose gave the wrong answer to the 8,000 Euro question. Unbelievably, he went home with a measly 500 Euros and three unused jokers, landing him a spot in the show's history books as one of the biggest losers.

On Monday evening in the "Surprise Special," Jannik got a second chance to spin the Millionaire wheel, despite the general rule that a contestant can't participate twice. Placing an exception on the rule, host Günther Jauch was more than welcoming, inviting Jannik, his father Theo, and Stephan Landkammer, the contestant who wrongly answered in the "Christmas Special." After the show, Landkammer reached out to Kuhle, offering him a second shot at game show stardom. "I barely slept a wink after the show. I wanted to make it up to Jannik because he has such a big heart and forgave me for my mistake right away," Landkammer admitted.

"Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?": Contestant Battles Trauma

Jannik's return to the Millionaire hot seat was filled with a touch of déjà vu. With questions related to Formula 1 and a film trivia question, he had a bit of struggle. The 8,000 Euro question that he had feared in his previous appearance came back to haunt him. It read: "The declared goal of the 'Mission Silver Locks' started by three elderly gentlemen in November was the whereabouts of...? A: ver.di in the DGB, B: Wirtz at Bayer 04, C: The Left in the Bundestag, D: Catholics in the church." Using his wits and instinct, Jannik got close, but the dreaded trauma reared its head. With a humorous twist, he joked, "I'd like to ask someone to stand up who really knows. I need to recover from my trauma." A kind spectator from the audience provided the correct answer: The Left in the Bundestag.

With his renewed confidence, Jannik utilized his remaining two jokers on the 32,000 Euro question. It read: "The collectible card 'Pikachu with gray felt hat' caused a massive rush in whose souvenir shop in 2023: A: Van Gogh Museum, B: Pablo Picasso Museum, C: Gustav Klimt Museum, D: Albrecht Dürer Museum." Using the now infamous 50:50 joker, two answers remained, and Jannik guessed correctly. Much to his father's dismay, he took a risk and it paid off. With the winnings, Jannik is planning on going on a much-needed vacation and finally earning enough to fund his studies. He's also relieved to have finally conquered his "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" trauma.
