Confessed Axe Murder in Kassel: 29-Year-Old Admitsto Slaying Roommate

29-Year-Old Confesses to Axe Homicide in Kassel - A 29-year-old individual admits to committing a homicide using an axe in the city of Kassel.

In the trial for a grisly axe murder in Kassel, the suspect has come clean. The first day of the trial at the Regional Court of Kassel saw him confessing to the chilling crime of killing his former roommate with an axe. He also admitted to dismembering and hiding the remains.

The prosecution lays charges of murder against the 29-year-old Bulgarian, alleging that he viciously struck the homeless 26-year-old in his sleep in June 2024. At the time, the victim resided with the defendant. Later, the defendant is said to have dismembered the body and stashed it near the Hercules monument and on the grounds of the former Federal Horticultural Show (Buga) on the Fulda. The defendant, who had scampered to the Czech Republic following the crime, was apprehended in Kassel about six weeks later.

The prosecution suspects that the so-called perpetrator harbored the mistaken notion that his partner was romantically involved with the victim. The defendant's jealously had earned him a reputation.

Defendant: "Under the influence during the crime"

The defendant painted a different picture of events. He claimed that the axe attack didn't occur on the 7th, but rather early in the morning of the 8th. The victim was awake, and a heated argument transpired beforehand, according to the 29-year-old, who communicated through an interpreter. Fearing for his life, he took the axe and struck the victim's head repeatedly.

He had kept the murder weapon in the room as he felt threatened. Out of fear of being charged, he refrained from summoning an ambulance initially and even locked the room. He also admitted to consuming alcohol and various drugs like cannabis and fentanyl before the crime.

Defendant expresses regret for the crime

In the aftermath of the crime, he delivered pizza. It was on the night of the 9th that he first transported the body to the Buga grounds. Fearing the body could be identified, he then severed the head and extremities and concealed them near the Hercules monument.

His lawyer stated that his client is riddled with remorse for the heinous act. They had been close friends for years, had known each other for about two to three years, and had lived together for a while, the defendant added.

Additional charge

The trial also saw the 29-year-old facing charges of aggravated assault. In January 2024, he allegedly stabbed another man with a knife, inflicting life-threatening injuries. The dispute over drug use is cited as the motive for the attack.
