A 1994 album jointly released by Dave Cousins and Brian Willoughby, titled "The Bridge," is given a fresh renovation.
The long-awaited remastered version of the rare Strawbs offshoot album, "The Bridge", is set to be released soon, according to Witchwood Records and distributor RSK Entertainment. Originally released in 1994, this second collaboration between Dave Cousins and Brian Willoughby was a gem that has since become a rarity, with only 1000 copies produced.
The remastered album will feature the original tracks, with no additional songs or features. Blue Weaver, a former Strawbs colleague of Dave Cousins, has overseen the remastering process, aiming to make the great songs on the album accessible to listeners once more.
The remastered "The Bridge" will be available on CD and will feature new artwork, including Venice's Bridge of Sighs. The album brings together an impressive lineup of musicians, including Chas Cronk, Richard Hudson, Tony Fernandez (all former Strawbs members), Mary Hopkin (vocalist), and Rod Demick (harmonica player).
Sadly, Dave Cousins, the lead of Strawbs, passed away earlier this year after a long illness. However, his legacy lives on through "The Bridge", a bridge between Strawbs' recording and the duo's unique approach to the songs.
Brian Willoughby, in a statement, mentioned that the album serves as a bridge between Strawbs' recording and the duo's approach to the songs. He further added that the most important goal was to make the great songs on the album accessible to listeners again.
"The Bridge" will be available for pre-order from Burning Shed. The exact release date for the remastered version has not been specified yet, but music enthusiasts and Strawbs fans are eagerly waiting for this musical gem to be re-released.
