"90s heartthrob's unusual thriller earns uncommon acclaim on Rotten Tomatoes"
Fired Up: Josh Hartnett's Fresh Action Thriller Scores a Perfect 10 on Rotten Tomatoes
Hollywood heartthrob Josh Hartnett is back in the game with his latest action film, Fight or Flight, and it's causing quite a stir! The 46-year-old heartthrob, fresh off his stint in Trap, has taken on the role of mercenary Lucas Reyes in this adrenaline-pumping movie.
Directed by James Madigan, Fight or Flight follows the story of Reyes, who's tasked with tracking down a mysterious asset on a plane from Bangkok to San Francisco. Sounds simple, right? But things go south when Reyes realizes that other passengers have been sent to kill them both.
Released in the UK on Sky Cinema back in February, this film already has critics buzzing! Despite a few bumps along the road, the movie currently boasts a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, with a blanket of praise for Hartnett's exceptional action prowess.
Jack Martin, film critic for Film Feeder, described Fight or Flight as "a bonkers action-comedy that is fun and devilishly gory enough to overlook some of its more gaping flaws, while providing Josh Hartnett with another magnetic lead turn in a script filled with chaos."
Donald Clarke, film critic for the Irish Times, was equally impressed: "James Madigan, hitherto a second-unit director, takes precisely the right attitude from the opening skirmish. This is cartoon violence at a level of savagery that might give Itchy & Scratchy pause for thought."
Digital Spy's Ian Sandwell declared the film "a violent 'assassins on a plane' romp that sees Josh Hartnett have the best time with a chainsaw." If that doesn't catch your attention, I don't know what will!
As Chris Wasser of the Sunday Independent put it, "(The) brutal, bone-crunching combat sequences are fun, and you haven't lived until you've seen a bleach-blonde Hartnett run riot with a chainsaw."
So, what's the story about? Reyes is an exiled American agent given one last chance to redeem himself. His assignment is to track down and identify a mysterious, international high-value asset known only as 'The Ghost' on a flight from Bangkok to San Francisco. Making things complicated? The plane is filled with assassins sent to kill him and the mysterious ghost. Trust us; it doesn't get much more action-packed than that!
Over the years, Josh Hartnett has dazzled audiences in blockbuster hits such as Pearl Harbor, The Faculty, Lucky Number Slevin, and 40 Days and 40 Nights. But after taking a step back from the spotlight in Hollywood to enjoy a quieter life with his wife, the beautiful actress Tamsin Egerton, and their four children, he's back in full force to promote Fight or Flight. And boy, is he resurrecting his iconic status in style!
In a post from the film's official Instagram account, Hartnett filmed a video to build excitement. The camera focuses on the bottom half of his face, with the sound of typing playing over the footage as a message scrolls across the screen: "Me promoting my film before ghosting social media for another 10 years."
So, mark your calendars, action fans! Fight or Flight will hit US theaters on May 9. It's a high-octane, gutsy, and bloody ride that you won't want to miss!
