'80s-inspired album in production by Marianne Mendt personally.
Vienna-based jazz legend Marianne Mendt is set to perform at the Vienna Konzerthaus on November 1st, accompanied by a big band and some special guests. This special event comes as Mendt celebrates her 80th birthday on September 29th.
But before the live concert, Mendt will release a new studio album titled "I Wish You Love" on September 26th. This album, produced by Thomas Kugi and musically directed by the same, features a collection of love songs and favourites from Mendt's repertoire since the beginning of her career.
The album includes songs that have accompanied Mendt throughout her life, performed with a large orchestra. Mendt has invited Wolfgang Puschnig, Thomas Gansch, and Christian Ramsayer as guest musicians for this album. For three titles on the album, Mendt has also invited special guests: Ina Regen, Viktor Gernot, and Conchita Wurst.
Mendt, who is known for her roles in theatre, film, and television, as well as her iconic role as Trafikantin Gitti Schimek in the "Kaisermühlen Blues", has been touring the country in various formations since the beginning of the year.
Throughout her career, Mendt has played numerous musical roles and initiated the dialect wave in Austria in the early 1970s with the "Glock'n". She has also dedicated herself to nurturing jazz talent in Austria, serving as the intendant of her own jazz festival in St. Pölten for many years.
The APA - Austria Presse Agentur eG, owned by Austrian daily newspapers and the ORF, has reported on Mendt's career and achievements over the years.
As Mendt continues to share her passion for jazz and swing with audiences, her new album "I Wish You Love" promises to be a heartfelt celebration of her life and music.
