59th Aid Drop by UAE and Jordan Over Gaza via Aircrafts

In the midst of a prolonged humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been leading a large-scale relief operation known as Operation Chivalrous Knight. Launched in 2024, this humanitarian mission aims to deliver essential aid to the most vulnerable Palestinian families affected by the conflict.

The operation, now in its third phase, has been active for over 441 days as of mid-2025. It has distributed approximately 29,784 tonnes of aid through more than 156 convoys, which include over 500 planeloads, five transport ships, and over 2,500 trucks transporting supplies from Egypt into Gaza.

The UAE's commitment to the operation is evident in the specialized projects it has implemented, such as a field hospital in Gaza, a floating hospital in Al Arish, Egypt, water supply infrastructure like desalination plants in Rafah, and the “Birds of Goodness” initiative, which involves aerial drops of aid to inaccessible northern Gaza.

Jordan has been a key partner in this effort, particularly in the "Birds of Goodness" initiative, which has conducted at least 56 airdrops of humanitarian aid by July 2025, totaling thousands of tonnes of relief supplies delivered by nearly 200 aircraft.

Recent conversations between Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the UAE, and Ayman Safadi, Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, have discussed the latest developments in the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and ways to enhance the joint coordination of relief efforts.

The UN's financial tracking service states that the UAE has delivered more aid to Gaza than any other country. The operation has provided medical support to 72,280 patients at hospitals in the UAE and the floating hospital in Al Arish, Egypt. Over 78,000 tonnes of food, medicine, and emergency supplies have been distributed in coordination with international humanitarian organizations.

The UAE's unwavering support for Gaza is evident in the over $1.5 billion in humanitarian aid provided since the start of the war with Israel. Operation Chivalrous Knight is a testament to the UAE's commitment to alleviating the harsh living conditions caused by the conflict, ensuring that basic human needs such as food, medical care, shelter, and water are met, even in hard-to-reach areas.
