In 2024, the Allgäu region's charming town of Wangen will play host to a grand spectacle, the State Garden Show, with an impressive 317 million euros in investments from both private and public sectors. This budget-busting event promises a massive transformation for Wangen, with the mayor, Michael Lang, envisioning a significant leap forward in infrastructure.

The tailwind of the State Garden Show will breathe new life into a neglected industrial area, which will soon house apartments for around 1,500 residents, a kindergarten, an event hall, and commercial spaces for approximately 500 jobs. The town's contribution to this expansion totals 89 million euros, with 53 million sourced through land sales and subsidies.

Wangen's residents can look forward to wide-ranging improvements, including the construction of new cycle paths, footpaths, and five bridges, as well as the development of a local park. Curious nature enthusiasts and plant aficionados will favor Wangen as the State Garden Show opens its doors on April 26, 2024. By the time the show concludes on October 6, organizers expect an astounding 500,000 visitors to have attended.

More than 2,000 events will spread over 164 days, with innovative show gardens as one of the main attractions. The site, spanning 40 hectares or over 50 soccer pitches, will showcase the planting of 3,000 trees and shrubs, catering to both local and international visitors.

The State Garden Show invites all eco-conscious and garden-loving individuals from Baden-Württemberg and beyond to enjoy the splendid seamless blend of nature and urban development. By revolutionizing an old industrial area, this event will push Wangen to new heights while demonstrating a dedication to environmental issues and horticulture.
