30-Stone Pig Named Pog Stuns New Homeowner in Ipswich

A house in Ipswich, Suffolk, became the centre of an unusual story after its new owner encountered an unexpected resident—a 30-stone pig named Pog. The animal’s antics later went viral, coinciding with the town’s Pigs Gone Wild arts trail in 2017.

The property was first sold in 2014 for £100,000, well below its £120,000 asking price. By 2017, it changed hands again when Alex Robertson purchased it for £275,000. What he didn’t expect was Pog, a massive crossbreed of large white, Gloucester old spot, and Duroc, standing waist-high to his previous owner, Kathy.

The property’s sale history and Pog’s brief notoriety remain linked. While the identity of the original owner who shared Christmas dinners with the pig stays unconfirmed, the story left a mark on Ipswich. The house’s value rose significantly, and Pog’s legacy lives on in local memory.
