In a surprising turn of events, Finance Minister Jakob von Weizsäcker has admitted that the Saarland Transformation Fund, crucial for the region's industrial future, may be unconstitutional. This revelation comes on the heels of the Federal Constitutional Court's ruling on the German government's 60 billion climate fund.

Stephan Toscani, head of the Saar CDU, is skeptical of the SPD state government's emergency loan business model, which declares an emergency once and takes out loans for ten years. He doubts whether declaring an emergency annually will suffice.

The Saar Greens are advocating for a "sustainable solution" to the issue, urging the Ministry of Finance to take decisive action. State chairwoman Jeanne Dillschneider says that legal clarity will inevitably come from the state constitutional court if the Ministry of Finance does not cooperate.

Anke Rehlinger plans to campaign at the SPD federal party conference for strong investment in infrastructure and jobs, as well as debt brake reform.
