270th Engineer Brigade Restores Access to Flooded Communes in Đà Nẵng

The 270th Engineer Brigade, led by Lieutenant Colonel Tôn Thất Tường and Lieutenant Colonel Phạm Thanh Hải, has successfully restored access to isolated communes in Đà Nẵng following heavy flooding. The brigade's courage and dedication, embodying the spirit of 'For the People, selfless to the end,' has been crucial in aiding residents and reconnecting them with the outside world.

The brigade, initially facing devastated roads, landslides, and unstable slopes, worked tirelessly for over 16 continuous hours. They established an advance command post in Trà My Commune to coordinate rescue efforts. Thousands of officers and soldiers, along with dozens of specialised vehicles, were mobilised to assist those trapped by the floods.

The brigade's efforts included clearing landslides, delivering supplies, and helping evacuate residents. They also reinforced homes, moved livestock and property, and evacuated people from high-risk areas. Notably, they even assisted bereaved families in moving coffins out of flooded areas and ferried an injured resident to hospital. Within 24 hours, the brigade restored access routes to the isolated areas, enabling relief convoys and signal restoration. Signal Brigade 575 subsequently reconnected Trà Leng with the outside world.

The 270th Engineer Brigade's heroic efforts have been instrumental in providing relief and restoring normality to the affected communes. Their commitment and sacrifice have truly embodied the spirit of serving the people, even in the face of extreme challenges.
