25-Year-Old Rescued After Two Days in Tyrol Alps

A 25-year-old German man was rescued from the Marxenkar in Tyrol after being stranded for two days. The trio had embarked on an alpine hike on Sunday, October 19, 2025, but became separated due to a dispute. The man was found by a rescue helicopter at around 10:20 p.m. on Tuesday, October 21, and airlifted to safety.

The rescue operation involved multiple agencies, including mountain rescue teams, police, and a thermal imaging drone. The man was discovered above a large rock face, unable to proceed. The two teenagers from the Mecklenburgische Seenplatte district, who had offline maps, had triggered the operation after encountering a hunter at around 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The names of the two police officers involved in the rescue have not been released.

The 25-year-old man was safely rescued thanks to the combined efforts of the rescue teams and the quick thinking of the two teenagers. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of staying together and using offline maps during alpine hikes.
