Truck Carrying 24 Tons of Olives Breaks Through Guardrail - 24-Ton Olive Truck Crash Blocks Key Highway After Driver's Risky License Maneuver
A lorry carrying 24 tons of olives crashed near Titisee-Neustadt after the driver attempted a license manoeuvre on slushy roads. The incident forced traffic towards Freiburg to be rerouted through Neustadt, causing delays in the area.
The truck slid off the B31 highway and down an embankment into a wooded slope. The driver escaped without serious injury but was taken to hospital for a check-up. Emergency crews began recovery work by unloading the olives from the vehicle.
Police had earlier warned that the B31 might need a full closure, though only one lane remained open toward Donaueschingen during the operation. Authorities advised drivers to expect further disruptions as recovery efforts continued.
The crash led to traffic diversions and lane restrictions on a key route. Recovery operations focused on clearing the olives and removing the lorry from the embankment. Police had cautioned that delays would persist throughout the day.
