"21 Artists from Bremen Displayed in Remake of the 35th Exhibition, Partnering with Bremen SV"
The "35th Matchday" art project, a unique exploration of the connections between football and art, is set to exhibit at the Center for Art in the Tabakquartier (Hermann-Ritter-Straße 108 E, 28197 Bremen) from October 19 to November 17.
This expanded project, initiated by Tom Gefken, Oliver Voigt, and SV Bremen's board member Bastian Fritsch, further emphasizes the strong intersections between football and art, as more artists delve into this intriguing connection.
Among the participating artists are Bissan Badran, Heike Kati Barath, Claudia Bartholomaeus, Norbert Bauer, Anastasiia Guzenkova, Tom Gefken, Anja Fussbach, Tobias Hübel, and Sihle Inensiko. The project now includes a total of 36 Bremen-based artists, with additional participants such as Paul Ole Janns, Ivo Kiefer, Manfred Kirschner, Yohan Koo, Werner Kuhrmann, Patricia Lambertus, Dominik Meitzler, Tobias Horoschko, Lisa Sinan Mrozinski, Amerir Omerovic, Barbara Rosengarth, Simon Schadwinkel, John Sempe, Yoriko Seto, Ralf Tekaat, Oliver Voigt, and Rainer Weber.
The question at the heart of the project remains the same: "What happens when free art interacts with the fixed rules of football?" Each artist, whether part of the original group or the new additions, will engage with the theme of regional football in their artworks.
21 Bremen-based artists visited SV Bremen's home games and were inspired to create works that reflect the symbolic, social, and visual elements of local football. The project continues to be a platform for sharing passions, with more artists contributing to the discussion.
The exhibition will be open on Saturdays and Sundays from 2 to 6 PM during the specified time period, and admission will remain free. Visitors can expect a diverse range of perspectives and interpretations of the theme of regional football, as the project now boasts a more culturally diverse roster of artists.
The "35th Matchday" art project was awarded a three-year atelier scholarship from the city of Bremen at the Center for Art in Woltmershausen. The results of the expanded project will also be exhibited at the "35th Matchday reloaded" exhibition at the Center for Art in the Tabakquartier.
