"2027 Prediction: Tinubu Can Only Be Opposed by a Northerner, Southerners Are Wasting Their Efforts - Dele Momodu's Perspective"

In a candid conversation on Arise TV, Dele Momodu, a prominent figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has stirred up the political pot by suggesting that only a northerner could potentially take on President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Momodu's comments come in response to the dismissive remarks by Tinubu's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who deemed opposition coalition talks as "dead on arrival." Momodu, however, disagreed, stating that such discussions are worth pursuing.

He fearlessly asserted, "Let me tell you straight, it's not gonna happen until it's been tried and tested. I've got a theory that Tinubu can only be countered this time by a northerner. Any southerner telling you they want to contest against Tinubu is just wasting their time."

Momodu also underscored that the PDP does not harbor a North-South divide, pointing out historical instances of PDP administrations led by southerners such as former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan. He argued that the opposition party has shown fairness towards the South.

However, the former magazine publisher cast doubt on the idea of a rigid eight-year North, eight-year South rotation, questioning the constitutional basis for such a rule.
