Speaking Up for the APC: Former State Chairmen of the Defunct CPC Throw Their Support Behind President Tinubu
"2027: Our Reason for Backing Tinubu - Former CPC Leaders"
In a bold move, the Forum for State Chairmen of the formerly existing Congregation for Progressive Change (CPC) has declared their intention to back President Bola Tinubu and aid in the transformation of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement issued by the National Secretary, Sulaiman Oyaremi, the forum asserted that their duty lies in supporting President Tinubu and contributing to the evolution of the APC into a unifying institution where every stakeholder can feel a sense of belonging and ownership.
Delving deeper into the issue, the forum expressed concern over the disarray that has arisen due to multiple factions claiming to represent the defunct CPC. This situation, they claim, highlights a glaring lack of coherent leadership within their midst and a disturbing lack of inclusivity in the APC's leadership and the government it spawned.
Members of the defunct CPC, especially former State Chairmen, have long felt sidelined, according to the forum. Despite their notable contributions to the APC's electoral victories, they have not been granted fair representation in government appointments or within the party structure, at both the national and state levels.
While acknowledging the rights of individuals to either remain in or depart from the APC, the forum emphasized that the majority of its members, with a few exceptions, have chosen to stand by their principal, former President Muhammadu Buhari, and stay within the APC.
