2025 Vuelta a España stage fourteen preview: Detailed analysis and predictions for upcoming cycling race

=====================================================================

The upcoming stage of the Vuelta a España cycle race will traverse a more remote and less frequently used section of the western mountains in Asturias. This stage promises to be a gruelling test for the competitors, with several challenging climbs and a significant competition point offering time bonuses.

The Toughest Ascents Await

The stage includes three category 1 climbs: San Llaurienzu, Alto de la Farrapona, and Alto de la Angliru. San Llaurienzu, located at around 102.1 km into the stage, is one of Asturias' toughest ascents and follows the infamous Angliru climb. The interminable uphill grind to Alto de la Farrapona, which comes later in the stage at around 135.9 km, adds further challenge after San Llaurienzu.

Competitive Sprint and Time Bonuses

In between these climbs, a notable sprint point offering a time bonus can be found at Entragu, located near kilometer 89.9. This competitive sprint point is a significant competition point in the Vuelta cycle race stage. Time bonuses will be distributed at this location, adding an extra layer of excitement to the race.

Less Frequently Used Climbs

Before the aforementioned climbs, a category 3 climb called L'Alto Tenebreo is featured at km 69.5. Although less challenging than the others, it is notable as part of this mountainous section in western Asturias.

A Potential GC Sort-Out

Stages in this area are known for causing significant GC reshuffling due to the sequence and difficulty of climbs. The sequence of climbs in this stage could potentially cause another major GC sort-out in the Vuelta cycle race.

The Vuelta a España cycle race is known for its challenging terrain and this stage is no exception. With its remote location, less frequently used climbs, and competitive sprint point offering time bonuses, it promises to be an exciting stage for both cyclists and spectators alike.
