Vuelta a España 2025: Stage 14 and 15 Preview
The Vuelta a España 2025 is set to challenge the peloton with a series of demanding climbs in Asturias, Spain. Stage 14, taking place on the 14th of July, will see the riders tackle some of the region's toughest ascents.
Stage 14: Avilés - La Farrapona Lagos de Somiedo
This 135-kilometre stage promises a gruelling test, with a total elevation gain of 3805 metres. The route includes three significant climbs:
- L'Alto Tenebreo (Category 3): Located at kilometer 69.5, this climb will set the tone for the day's challenge.
- Pertu de San Llaurienzu (Category 1): At km. 102.1, this climb is one of the region's toughest ascents, with a 8.5% gradient over 10.1 kilometres.
- La Farrapona (Category 1): The final challenge, located at km 135.9, presents a particularly challenging uphill grind of 16.9 kilometres, with the final 6 kilometres averaging above 10%.
Entragu, at kilometer 89.9, offers a time bonus opportunity for those looking to make a move in the general classification.
Stage 15: Vegadeo - Monforte de Lemos
The day after the demanding Stage 14, Stage 15 on the 15th of July, is likely to be a breakaway stage, featuring two categorized climbs at the start: Puerto a Garganta and Alto de Barbeitos. The stage includes a hilly central section leading to a slightly downhill finish towards Monforte de Lemos.
