2025 RBC Canadian Open Repeat Contenders: Top Bets, 'One-And-Done' Selection Steps
Ready for the thrills of the 2025 RBC Canadian Open? Let's dive into this weekend's action at TPC Toronto's North Course at Osprey Valley in Ontario, baby! I'm stepping up my game, despite Robert MacIntyre winning me cold cash last week and Scottie Scheffler bailing on me at the 2024 RBC Canadian Open. The U.S. Open is right around the corner, so it's time to get pumped and put together my top picks for our neighbor to the north's national tournament.

Fantasy Golf 'n' Stuff
Now, let me tell you about Rory McIlroy, the perfect U.S. Open-type of golfer - and don't even get me started on his record at the Canadian Open! He's won this babe twice and is the betting favorite this year. The North Course will test the players at 7,389 yards, and Alrighty Oakmont Country Club, host of the 2025 U.S. Open, stretches to 7,372 yards. But don't you worry, campers, TPC Toronto is a walk in the park compared to Oakmont, so the winner's putter will have to heat up.
I've only loaded up my bankroll with seven units (u) last week, 'cause Scottie had +300 and all my other bets bit the dust. As a result, my 2025 PGA TOUR balance is a depressing -2.28u after the Memorial. But, hey, let's look on the bright side! Here are my tips for outright winners and 'One-And-Done' pick for the Canadian Open:
2025 RBC Canadian Open Betting Card
The odds are the best available at the time of writing.
- Taylor Pendrith (+2800) via FanDuel, risking 0.71u.
- Sam Burns (+3000) via DraftKings, risking 0.67u.
- Cameron Young (+6600) via BetMGM, risking 0.3u.
- Justin Rose (+7500) via FanDuel, risking 0.27u.
- Erik van Rooyen (+10000) via FanDuel, risking 0.2u.
Weird Alert: Don't worry, bud - I've taken some friendly advice from fellow golf handicapper and dear ol' chap Geoff Fienberg from our Bet Podcast. He reckons Taylor Pendrith has played more rounds at TPC Toronto than any PGA Tour joe, and that, mixed with his recent form and course fit, is why he's my favorite on this year's Canadian Open betting card.
Taylor Pendrith (+2800)
This Canuck is definitely a player to watch. Pendrith is already tearing up TPC Toronto after scoring big at the PGA Championship (T5) and finishing strong at the Memorial (T12). He's mastered the three-wood and irons, leading the field in SG: Approach and driving distance, according to DataGolf.com. Throw in some solid putting (despite some wobbles this year), and Pendrith could be the man of the hour! Check out his performance at the easier courses of the Houston Open and THE PLAYERS Championship - he finished strong there! And don't forget Pendrith's one and only win was 2024's CJ CUP Byron Nelson, played on another soft course.
Sam Burns (+3000)
Things are heating up for Burns, who's poker hot with a putter! Did you know he's leading the PGA Tour in putting, averaging plus 1.050 strokes gained per round? He's also scorching the course in his last five events with an overall 5.4-stroke gain in putting. Look at his recent performance - T13 at the 2025 RBC Heritage, T5 at the Byron Nelson, T30 at the Truist, T19 at the PGA, and T12 at the Memorial! The young LSU alum is the real deal, already locking down five wins on Tour, including two at the Valspar Championship and the Charles Schwab Challenge. The Canadian Open shouldn't be a problem for him either - after two top-10 finishes in 2022-23!
Cameron Young (+6600)
Time for a dose of positive vibes, and Cam Young is the perfect pro for that! He walked away victorious in a playoff during the 'Golf's Longest Day' qualifier for the 2025 U.S. Open. Young brings the heat off the tee (he's the 22nd longest driver this season) and can handle the flat, easy greens at TPC Toronto with his decent putter. Plus, he's thrashed the Europeans at tough courses like The Open Championship's Muirfield and the flatter courses over there. That alone should chill his nerves on the Canadian course! P.S. - despite not winning since the 2023 Dell Technologies Match Play, Young is a young blood with plenty of time to earn more trophies.
Justin Rose (+7500)
It's all about balance, campers, and Justin Rose brings two sides to the table - hot or not! A few mishaps here and there, but don't forget his T3 finish at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am (a signature event) and his T8 spot at the Arnold Palmer Invitational (another signature event). Not to mention his Masters victory this year! Although the recent wins haven't been rolling in, he's still a seasoned pro with ten PGA TOUR victories. He could be heating up come Canadian Open time, so it's not a bad bet to make with Rose!
Erik van Rooyen (+10000)
EVR might not be a frontrunner, but there's a whole lot to like about him! He's got a knack for putting on Bentgrass greens, ranks second in this field for APP shots from 200+ yards, and 10th in APP shots from 175-200 yards. Keeps it simple, doesn't he? And check out his second-place finish at the Byron Nelson, and fourth spot on our Bet The Number model for this event. Could EVR do the deed at TPC Toronto? This could be the time to jump on the van Rooyen bandwagon!
RBC Canadian Open 2025 'One-And-Done' Pick: Taylor Pendrith
My first pick, Scottie Scheffler, tore it up at the Memorial, propelling me into fourth place in the Mayo Cup, with 4,500 entrants battling it out. We're not there yet, but there's still hope for me - the PGA has two majors and three signature events left on the calendar! Pendrith will be popular among the Mayo Cup participants this week, but I'm comfortable with his performance, so I'll ride with the man of the hour!
