(2025 Evaluation of Edwin Delarosa's Animal Work)
Hey there! Let's dive into my ** reviews**!
I've been rollin' with Edwin's grips for a whopping 15 years, bud (yep, you read that right!), and dang, they never cease to impress.
I've given plenty of other grips a spin, but Edwins just keep pulling me back in. Heck, I'd swap back even when my current pair was still fresh! That's how fantastic they are.

Why am I so enamored with 'em, you ask? It's all about comfort, durability, and that perfect feel. The competition hasn't even come close yet, but I'm still out there testing, just in case.
If you're a fan of BMX history, you'll appreciate that Edwin DeLaRosa, a true legend in the BMX world, has his name on these babies. For me, they're more than just grips—they're a connection to the roots of BMX and a reminder of why I first fell head over heels for this sport. Don't miss out, man!
Animal Edwin Delarosa Grips Review
Way back when, the Animal Edwin grips rocked a 140mm length with flanges (check out my article if you're curious about ** what size are BMX grips**), but their feel captivated me instantly, and I knew they'd be a long-time partner on my bike. Eventually, I started cutting off the flanges as I ride brakeless and found them to be an obstacle.
I was ecstatic when Animal unleashed the flangeless version of the Edwin grip! And another awesome feature—the diameter is a bit fatter, measuring 32mm. Most BMX grips are around 30mm or thinner, but I'm diggin' the extra cushioning, especially for those with larger hands like myself and Reed Stark.
Speaking of largeness, Animal Bikes wisely made the grip longer, providing riders more freedom to adjust their hand position as needed. At first, it was 140mm, but they eventually released a 165mm version, which just feels incredible. Even if they'd gone for a 160mm, it'd still be awesome!

Conclusion
When folks ask for grip recommendations, I always suggest Edwins. I've ridden them for such a lengthy period, and they've never let me down. In fact, even after holding them thousands of times, they still feel amazing, as if it was the first time.
Now, the only reason I might test other grips like ODIs and BSDs is for our website (shout out to Mike Hoder's signature grips; they're fantastic but get super sticky for me after a while).
There's no grip that comes close to the Edwin grip, but if you're a teen or have smaller hands or ride brakes and prefer traditional grip lengths, you might want to consider something else. But in all other situations, Edwins still rule the roost!
