17-Year-Old Svetlana Goryacheva Shines with Two Medals at Volga Chess Championship

Svetlana Goryacheva, a talented young chess player from Nizhny Novgorod, has made a remarkable impression at the Volga Federal District Chess Championship held in Samara. The 17-year-old student of Sports School No. 9 won two medals, demonstrating her exceptional skills in the rapid and blitz competitions.

Goryacheva's impressive performance in the blitz event saw her secure the silver medal with an impressive score of 9/11, finishing just half a point behind the gold medalist, Yekaterina Fefelova of Orenburg Oblast. This outstanding result is a testament to Goryacheva's strategic prowess and resilience under time pressure.

Earlier in the championship, Goryacheva claimed the bronze medal in the under-17 girls’ rapid tournament. Under the guidance of her coach, Svetlana Vifleemskaya, Goryacheva scored an impressive 6.5/9, showcasing her ability to maintain focus and consistency over extended periods.

Goryacheva's success at the Volga Federal District Chess Championship is a significant milestone in her young career.
