In honor of its 157th birthday, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has lauded the Turkish Red Crescent as a "deep-rooted army of kindness" with a long-standing humanitarian mission spanning across Turkey and the globe.

In a heartfelt message, Erdogan looked back on the organization's roots, which can be traced back to 1867 when it was first known as the "Ottoman Society for the Relief of Wounded and Sick Soldiers." The president acknowledged the group's impact during turbulent times, particularly in Turkey's quest for independence.

"Year after year, the Turkish Red Crescent offers vital services in disaster relief, international aid, refugee support, and youth and education programs," Erdogan explained. "Its tireless volunteers bring a glimmer of hope to individuals worldwide."

Erdogan highlighted the organization's global reach, mentioning its presence in conflict zones such as Palestine, Syria, Somalia, Afghanistan, and Bosnia. He expressed, "Wherever people look for the Red Crescent, it stands tall as a beacon of hope."

The president voiced his gratitude to all staff members, volunteers, and donors, and implored the public to keep backing the institution.

A Helping Hand From Near and Far

Recently, the Turkish Red Crescent teamed up with Çağ University, aiming to create a lasting model of social assistance and cooperation between the two organizations.

The organization has also jumped into action during heatwaves, promoting heatwave awareness campaigns and offering advice on sun safety and temperature management at home.

In the lead-up to Eid al-Adha, the Turkish Red Crescent launched a sacrificial donation campaign, aiming to distribute meat to those in need, both locally and internationally.

The Turkish Red Crescent's global humanitarian efforts include financial support for projects overseas. For instance, the organization has recently designated $2.8 million for humanitarian activities in the Syrian Arab Republic.

All in all, the Turkish Red Crescent remains a vital force in humanitarian aid, focusing on both domestic and international initiatives. Its collaborations with educational institutions and continued participation in global humanitarian projects showcase its dedication to helping those in dire need.

Politics and general news intersect as the Turkish Red Crescent, a renowned humanitarian organization, expands its reach, collaborating with educational institutions for social assistance and engaging in global projects, such as the recent $2.8 million allocation for humanitarian activities in the Syrian Arab Republic. This strategic partnership and international aid initiatives keep the Turkish Red Crescent a noteworthy player in the global humanitarian landscape.
